Description:
The affinity of the C2441-06L for rat Thy-1 is 3x10e9m-1 and for mouse Thy-1.1 is 3x10e8m-1 (1). The Thy-1 antigen is found on a variety of cell types including thymocytes, neuronal cells, T-Lymphocytes (mouse), stem cells and immature B cells (rat) and connective tissue. The molecule is a glycoprotein with 112aa which is homologous to immunoglobulin domains. The binding characteristics have been extensively studied. Demonstrated to promote neurite outgrowths on peripherin-stained sympathetic rat neurons, using fluorescence microscopy (5) and reported to induce glomerular nephritis in Wistar rats (8).

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: 1:50-1:100. 10ul labels 10e6 cells in 100ul.
Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections
Optimal working dilutions to be determined by researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Specificity:
Recognizes the Thy-1.1 antigenic determinant which is a monomorphic determinant within rat strains but polymorphic in mice. Thus C2441-06L reacts with Thy-1.1 mice e.g. AKR and FBV strains, but not Thy-1.2 mice e.g. CBA, BALB/c. Species Crossreactivity: rabbit, mouse, and guinea pig.
