Molecular Weight:

ED50 <2.0ng/ml (> 5 x 10e5 units/mg). The biological activity was determined by measuring the dose-dependent proliferation of human TF-a cells. Ciliary Neurotropic Factor (CNTF), also known as Membrane-Associated Neurotransmitter Stimulating Factor (MANS), is produced by Schwann cells in peripheral nervous tissue and astrocytes in the central nervous system. Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor promotes the growth and survival of many neural derived cells including parasympathetic, sympathetic, sensory and spinal motor neurons and chick ciliary neurons in vitro.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with 5mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.5. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
