Connexin 31.1 (CX31.1.1, Gap Junction Beta 5 Protein, CXB-5)
Description:
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 for neat serum and 1-10ug/ml for affinity pure using ECL. An antibody raised against this epitope has been used for westerns (3).

ELISA (1:100K using 50-100ng CX31.1 control peptide/well.
Immunoprecipitations. We recommend the use of affinity pure antibodies at 2-10ug affinity pure antibodies. An antibody made to a similar epitope has been used for Immunoprecipitations (3). A similar protocol is recommended for this antibody.

Immunohistochemistry & Immunofluorescence: we recommend the use of affinity purified antibody at 2-20ug/ml in formaldehyde fixed tissue (3).

Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Specificity:
The Cx31.1 immunogenic peptide sequence is 86% (12/14 aa) homologous with mouse CX31.1 (4). The Cx31.1 peptide sequence does not have significant homology with other known Connexins. Actual crossreactivity of antibodies in various species is not established
