COX 2 (Cyclooxygenase 2, PGHS 2, Prostaglandin Endoperoxide Synthase 2, PHS 2)
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) also known as prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PGHS2) is a 70kD microsomal enzyme that belongs to the prostaglandin G/H synthase family. It is inducibly-expressed by a number of cell types, including fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelium, and monocytes. Functionally, COX2 is a homodimer that catalyzes two steps in the conversion of arachadonic acid to prostaglandin H 2. Mature human COX2 is 587 amino acids (aa) in length and contains one EGF-like domain (aa 18-55), a potential membrane interacting region (aa 277-292) and a globular catalytic domain (aa 293-604). At least one splice form exists that shows an 11 aa substitution for the C-terminal 451 amino acids. Mature human COX2 shows 87% aa identity to mouse COX2.

Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
