COX 2 (Cyclooxygenase 2, PGHS 2, Prostaglandin Endoperoxide Synthase 2, PHS 2) |
|
|
Description: Cyclooxygenase catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and prostacyclins: the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. Recent discoveries of the induction of cyclooxygenase biosynthesis by a variety of stimuli such as phorbol esters, lipopolysaccharides, and cytokines led to the hypothesis that the inducible form of cyclooxygenase, COX-2, is responsible for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins under acute inflammatory conditions.10 COX-2 is a 72kDa protein which has been cloned from a variety of species including human, mouse, rat, and sheep. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml ( 1:1000) Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100 Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
