Description:
DDX belongs to the family of DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp, which are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

The epitope maps to a region between residues 575 and the C-terminus (residue 614) of human DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) Polypeptide 5 using the numbering given in entry NP_004387.1 (GeneID 1655).

Specificity:
This antibody is specific for DDX5 protein. Species Crossreactivity: Human. Reactivity with mouse and rat DDX5 is expected owing to identity of sequence between these orthologs and human DDX5 at the site to which the epitope maps.
