10'-Desmethoxystreptonigrin is a close analogue of streptonigrin which is produced by selected Streptomyces species. It is a moderately potent inhibitor of farnesylation of RAS P21 protein, 3-fold more active than streptonigrin. 10'-desmethoxystreptonigrin has also been reported to have potent and broad spectrum antibacterial and antitumor activity.
