Description:
Desmin is the main intermediate filament in mature skeletal, cardiac and smooth-muscle cells.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunoblot and Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue, no proteolytic treatment required).

Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100; Incubation Time 1 hr at room temperature.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Can be used to distinguish rhabdomyosarcomas and leiomyosarcomas from other soft tissue tumors, lymphomas and carcinomas. Reacts with the 53kD desmin protein and does not crossreact with other intermediate filament proteins. Recommended for Skeletal and smooth muscle myosarcomas. Species Crossreactivity: Human, most mammals, birds.
