Description:
Desmin is a 53kD intermediate filamentprotein expressed in the cytoplasmic of both smooth and striated muscles. D3221-10J reacts with both striated (skeletal and cardiac) and smooth muscle cells. In skeletal and cardiac muscles, this antibody stains Z-bands giving a characteristic striated appearance. D3221-10J is also useful in identifying tumors of myogenic origin, including rhabdomyosarcomas (striated muscle) and leiomyosarcomas (smooth muscle).

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry (formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:25-1:50
Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:25-1:100
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
