Detection of thermophilic, aerobic organisms in foods.

Description:
Dextrose Tryptone Agar is recommended for the determination of mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria in sweetening agents used in frozen desserts. Bromcresol purple is used as a pH indicator. When isolating thermophilic bacteria use 55C as a plating temperature.

Storage and Stability:
Store powdered media at 4C. Opened bottles should be capped tightly. Protect it from moisture and light. Prepared media should be kept at 4C and used within a short period of time.


Directions: 1. Dissolve 30grams per liter of distilled/ deionized (DDI) water, heating with stirring until completely solubilized.

2. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121C (15psi) Storage:Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4C and used within a short period of time.

Appearance: Light greenish-beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder.

Solubility: Purple, clear to turbid.

pH (25C): 6.70.2
