DYNLT3 (Dynein light chain Tctex-type 3, RCG42244, isoform CRA_a, Tcte1l)
Eukaryotic cells rely on actin and microtubule-based protein "motors" to generate intracellular movements. These motor proteins contain specialized domains that hydrolyse ATP to produce force and movement along a cytoskeletal polymer. In all cell types, dynein is a large protein complex composed of six distinct subunits and is responsible for most intracellular movement toward the minus ends of microtubules. Cytoplasmic dynein has many important roles in transporting membrane bound organelles, including endosomes, lysosomes, and mitochondria. Cytoplasmic dynein is also responsible for virus transport to the nucleus, retrograde axonal transport, and microtubule and neurofilament transport. Three families of dynein light chains (DYNLT) have been identified. Two isoforms of the DYNLT family of light chains, DYNLT1 and DYNLT3, have been proposed to link dynein to specific cargoes. Recent publications indicate that DYNLT3 binds to Bub3, a spindle checkpoint protein and Bub3 binds exclusively to DYNLT3 and not to other dynein light chains. DYNLT3 is present on kinetochores at prometaphase, but not later mitotic stages.It has been suggested that a subpopulation of dynein, containing the DYNLT3 light chain, may have a role in the transport of checkpoint proteins from the kinetochore to the spindle pole.

Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
