ECGS is mitogenic for many types of cells (i.e. mammalian, avian and human endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, keratinocytes, melanocytes and hybridomas) under reduced or serum-free conditions. It often fully substitutes for feeder layers in culture of fastidious cells. Bovine hypothalamic protein extract, is rich in cell growth and attachment factors. Range for Optimal Activity: Use in culture at 10-100ug/ml Biological Activity: 15ug/ml supports 4.6-fold growth of fetal bovine heart endothelial cells cultured for 5 days in 50% RPMI/50% DMEM (RD) medium, 2% FBS. Results may vary depending on cell line used. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder is stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 3 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
