Epithelial Specific Antigen (ESA, Epithelial Cellular Adhesion Molecule, EGP40, Ep-CAM, MK-1, 17-1A antigen, EPG34) (FITC)
Description:
Ep-CAM (also described as 17-1A antigen or EPG34) is widely expressed on cells of epithelial origin and tumors derived therefrom. This clone represents an excellent marker to discriminate epithelial from mesothelial structures.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence Microscopy, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen/paraffin): 1:10 with PBS, pH 7.4. Protease pretreatment of paraffin embedded sections is required. Incubate for 1 hr at RT.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.

Supplied as a liquid, 0.09% sodium azide. Labeled with FITC.
Specificity:
Recognizes the human Epithelial Specific Antigen. Reacts with carcinoma cells lines. Strong reaction seen in colon carcinoma cell lines (HT-29, WiDr, SW1116). Does not react with a subset of squamous cell carcinoma.
