FIAF (Fasting-induced Adipose Factor, Angiopoietin-like Protein 4, ANGPTL 4, PPAR gamma Angiopoitein-related Protein, PGAR, Hepatic Fibrinogen Angiopoietin-related Protein, HFARP) |
|
|
Description: The fasting-induced adipose factor (FIAF, ANGPTL4, PGAR, HFARP) was previously identified as a novel adipocytokine that was up-regulated by fasting, by peroxisome proliferators- activated receptor agonists, and by hypoxia. FIAF and other adipocytokines including resistin, adiponectin, acylationstimulating protein, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, rennin angiotensin system, metallothioneins and tumor growth factor-b have been implicated in a variety of different processes, ranging from blood pressure control to lipid metabolism and insulin senziting. It has been tempting to attribute many of the clinical abnormalities associated with obesity from insulin resistance to altered secretion of particular adipocytokines.
