Fibroblast Growth Factor-acidic (FGF-a or FGF-1) is a heparin binding growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. Human FGF-acidic is a 15.8kD protein containing 140 amino acid residues Biological Activity: Human FGF-a is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors if 10ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1x10e5 units/mg. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile buffer and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Molecular Weight: 15.8kD |
