FGF-2 is a basic heparin binding growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. Biological Activity: Cultures of fetal bovine heart endothelial (FBHE) cells grown for ve days in RD medium containing 2% FBS, 0.1ug/ml heparin, and 2ng/ml of this lot of FGF-2 showed > 12-fold more cells than cultures of FBHE cells grown in same medium without FGF-2. Results may vary depending on cell line used. Cell growth was assessed using an ATP luminescence assay Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. Molecular Weight: 17.5kD |
Source: Recombinant DNA expressed in yeast (S. cerevisiae). Purity: Purified by heparin-sepharose chromatography. 95% as determined by HPLC and SDS-PAGE.
