Folic Acid (Vitamin B9, Pteroylglutamic acid)
Folic acid, also known as folate, is a water soluble B-vitamin that occurs naturally in many leafy foods like spinach. Folate is necessary for the production and maintenance of new cells. This is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as infancy and pregnancy. If women have enough of it in their bodies before pregnancy, this vitamin can decrease the risk for neural tube defects (NTDs), which are birth defects of the baby's brain (anencephaly) or spine (spina bifida). Folate is needed to make DNA and RNA, the building blocks of cells. It also helps prevent changes to DNA that may lead to cancer.

Suitable for use in RIA and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Tissue culture supernatant

NSO myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
