Golgi SNAP Complex Member 1 (GOSR1, 28kD Golgi SNARE Protein, Golgi SNARE 28kD, GOS28, GS28, GOS28/P28, GS25, P28)
In eukaryotic cells, the Golgi apparatus receives newly synthesized proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and delivers them after covalent modification to their destination in the cell. Although little is known about membrane-tubule-mediated transport, the molecular mechanism for vesicle-mediated transport is quite well understood, occurring through docking of SNAREs on the vesicle with those on the target membrane. Transport of proteins along the exocytotic pathway is primarily achieved by vesicular intermediates. Two proteins, Golgi SNAREs of 27kDa, GS27, and of 28kD, GS28 are important trafficking membrane proteins between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi and between Golgi subcompartments. In vitro, GOS-28, A Golgi SNARE of 28kD, is efficiently packaged into Golgi-derived vesicles, which are most likely COPI coated. Antibodies directed against GOS-28 block its ability to bind alpha-SNAP, partially inhibit transport from the cis to the medial cisternae, and do not inhibit budding of COP-coated vesicles, but do accumulate docked uncoated vesicles.

Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Western Blot: 1:250-1:500. Detects a band at ~29kD.
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:100- 1:250
Flow Cytometry: 1:30
Immunoprecipitation: 1:60
Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-1:100
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
