Hanks' Balanced Salt Solution is designed for use with cells maintained in non-CO2 atmospheric conditions. Calcium and magnesium support cell adhesion. H1800-10 is also recommended to minimize cell attachment or aggregation. HBSS requires pH adjustment prior to filtration. It contain 0.35g/L of sodium bicarbonate and 1g/L of glucose. Directions per Liter Dissolve 9.9g in 800-900ml of ddH2O stirring gently until completely solubilized. Adjust pH of the medium to the desired level. Add additional water to bring the solution to1L IFilter-sterilize using a 0.22 micron membrane filter. Aliquot into sterile containers. Do not autoclave. Contains Sodium Bicarbonate. Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept refrigerated and used within a short period of time.
