HIV-1 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1) (HRP)
Description:
HIV is a member of the genus Lentivirus, part of the family of Retroviridae, which use reverse transcriptase to convert the viral RNA genome into double stranded DNA. This is then integrated into the cells DNA, which is followed by latency or active HIV replication. HIV primarily infects CD4+ T lymphocytes, resulting in their dramatic decline. When CD4+ T cell numbers decline below a critical level, cell-mediated immunity is lost, and the body becomes progressively more susceptible to opportunistic infections. If untreated, this can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (frozen), and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 1:200-1:1,000
Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:20-1:200
Western Blot: 1:20-1:200
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
