HOXA9 (Homeobox Protein Hox-A9, Homeobox Protein Hox-1G, HOX1G)
Description:
Homeobox protein A9 (HOXA9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HOXA9 gene. In vertebrates, the genes encoding the class of transcription factors called homeobox genes are found in clusters named A, B, C, and D on four separate chromosomes. Expression of these proteins is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development. This gene is part of the A cluster on chromosome 7 and encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor which may regulate gene expression, morphogenesis, and differentiation. This gene is highly similar to the abdominal-B (Abd-B) gene of Drosophila. A specific translocation event which causes a fusion between this gene and the NUP98 gene has been associated with myeloid leukemogenesis. Transfection studies showed that HOXA9 is a strong transcriptional repressor; it suppresses the transcription of the luciferase reporter gene driven by a 124-base pair OPN promoter fragment containing both Smad3 and HOX binding sites.

Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
