Influenza virus is a single-stranded RNA virus, segmented, 70nm diameter and enveloped. Strains are described by geographic origin, strain number, year of isolation and hemagglutination (H) and neuraminidase (N) antigens. Source: Allantoic fluid of 10 days old embryonated eggs inoculated with influenza A virus Strain: A/Taiwan/1/86 Applications: Serological studies of influenza A virus, immunogen for antibody production. Has been tested with anti-influenza A monoclonal antibodies. Inactivation: Chemically inactivated with 0.005% thimerosal and beta-propiolactone. This product has been treated in a manner consistent with methods of inactivation. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to microbiological/viral safe handling practices and techniques are required when handling this product. Note: Virus may form aggregates. Suspension and dilution should eliminate the particles. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
