Interleukin-10 (IL-10), originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF), shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI. The reported biological activities of IL-10, which may be interrelated, include inhibition of macrophage-mediated cytokine synthesis, suppression of the delayed-type hypersensitivity response, and stimulation of the Th2 cell response which results in elevated antibody production. Human IL-10 is active on murine cells. Murine IL-10 is inactive on human cells. Recombinant human IL-10 is an 18.6kD protein with 161 amino acid residues. The ED50 was found to be 2ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 5x10e5 units/mg. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Country of Origin: USA |
