Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP-4) is a novel, single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the LDLR family and is comprised of three EGF-like domains, eight LDL-receptor class A domains, and twenty LDL-receptor class B repeats. The exact function of LRP-4 has yet to be elucidated, however it is thought to function as a cell surface receptor with the ability to both bind and neutralize extracellular ligands, internalizing them for lysosomal degradation. Expression has been observed in various regions of the brain.

Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Immunohistochemistry: 1:500 detects LRP-4 in normal human brain tissue.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Molecular Weight:
212 kDa calculated. It has been reported that transfection of LRP-4 reveals different protein products at 20 kDa, 75 kDa and 250 kDa. While the 250 kDa band represents full length LRP-4, the two smaller bands appear to be processing products of the receptor. No bands were detected in the untransfected conditions. Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
