low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP4, KIAA0816, LRP10, MEGF7, low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4) |
|
|
Description: Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP-4) is a novel, single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the LDLR family and is comprised of three EGF-like domains, eight LDL-receptor class A domains, and twenty LDL-receptor class B repeats. The exact function of LRP-4 has yet to be elucidated, however it is thought to function as a cell surface receptor with the ability to both bind and neutralize extracellular ligands, internalizing them for lysosomal degradation. Expression has been observed in various regions of the brain. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: 1:500 detects LRP-4 in normal human brain tissue. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Normal human brain tissue Molecular Weight: 212 kDa calculated. It has been reported that transfection of LRP-4 reveals different protein products at 20 kDa, 75 kDa and 250 kDa. While the 250 kDa band represents full length LRP-4, the two smaller bands appear to be processing products of the receptor. No bands were detected in the untransfected conditions. (Dietrich, M.F., et al. (2010). PLoS ONE 5(4):e9960:1-7.) Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
