Description:
Listeria are Gram-positive bacilli and are widespread in the environment. It can be found in soil, dust, mud, vegetation, silage, sewage and most animals. It has been found in 5% or more of normal healthy people, usually in the gut. It has the unusual characteristic of being able to grow, albeit slowly, at temperatures as low as 0C. There are several different subtypes of L. monocytogenes (the main cause of disease) and L. innocua, which is very similar but apparently do not cause disease in man.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
