Description: Listeria are Gram-positive bacilli and are widespread in the environment. It can be found in soil, dust, mud, vegetation, silage, sewage and most animals. It has been found in 5% or more of normal healthy people, usually in the gut. It has the unusual characteristic of being able to grow, albeit slowly, at temperatures as low as 0°C. There are several different subtypes of L. monocytogenes (the main cause of disease) and L. innocua, which is very similar but apparently do not cause disease in man. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
