Malt Extract Agar is used for the isolation, cultivation and maintenance of yeasts and molds. Its low acidity inhibits the growth of most bacteria. The high carbohydrate content enhances the rapid growth of fungi and yeasts.
Culture response is expected after 40-72 hours at room temperature.


Directions per liter: Mix 33.6 grams of the medium in one Liter of dH2O water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring and boil for one minute to dissolve completely. Distribute and autoclave at 121.0C for 15 minutes. DO NOT OVERHEAT.

Appearance: Light beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder

Solubility: Grayish white, moderately hazy solution.

pH: 4.6

Storage: Store the dehydrated medium at room temperature. Protect from moisture and light.
