Suitable for use in culturing heterotropic marine bacteria. This formulation simulates the mineral composition of sea water. Directions per Liter: Suspend 40.244 grams in one liter of distilled/deionized (DDI) water. Heat with frequent stirring and boil for 1 minute to completely dissolve the powder. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121ºC (15psi). Cool to 50ºC, mix well and dispense into plates. The prepared medium is slightly opalescent and may present a light precipitation. It is recommended to homogenize the medium in its container before pouring into plates. Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4°C and used within a short period of time.
