5-Methoxytryptamine, Conjugated
Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Using a conjugate 5 Methoxytryptamine-Glutaraldehyde-Protein, antibody specificity was performed with an ELISA test by competition experiments with the following compounds :

(a) : 5 Methoxytryptamine-G-PL concentration/unconjugated or conjugated indolealkylamine concentration at half displacement.

Recommended dilution
The antiserum was tested using the free floating PAP technique on rat raphe nuclei. The anti-conjugated 5-methoxytryptamine antibodies stains well between a 1/2,000-1/5,000 dilution.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
