Myostatin (GDF8, MSTN) is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily that is essential for proper regulation of skeletal muscle mass.Myostatin is a secreted protein that negatively regulates skeletal muscle mass determining both muscle fiber number and size. The myostatin pathway is conserved and regulates muscle mass in a number of animal species ranging from fish to humans. Inhibition of myostatin using a variety of therapeutic approaches can increase muscle mass in a number of animal models of human disease, including muscular dystrophy. Endotoxin: 0.1EU/ug (LAL) AA Sequence: DFGLDCDEHS TESRCCRYPL TVDFEAFGWD WIIAPKRYKA NYCSGECEFV FLQKYPHTHL VHQANPRGSA GPCCTPTKMS PINMLYFNGK EQIIYGKIPA MVVDRCGCS Biological Activity: Recombinant Human Myostatin is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the inhibition of the prolifiration of MPC-11 cells is < 20ng/ml. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with 20mM HCl, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Molecular Weight: 24.9kD |
Source: Recombinant, human, E. coli Purity: 95% as determined by RP-HPLC; Reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Form: Supplied as a lyophilized powder. No Preservatives added. Reconstitute with 20mM HCl to ~0.1mg/ml, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions. For long term storage, add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
