A terpenoid lactone derived from Azadirachta indica (Neem tree) that displays a variety of biological activities including anti-malarial and anticancer activity. Recently it has also been shown that nimbolide sensitizes colon cancer cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis through three distinct mechanisms: reactive oxygen species and ERK-mediated up-regulation of DR5 and DR4, downregulation of cell survival proteins, and up-regulation of pro-apoptotic proteins p53 and Bax. Solubility: DMSO (50mM) Molecular Weight: ~466.52 Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. CAS Number: 25990-37-8 Molecular Formula: C H O Molecular Weight: ~466.52 |
