Phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B, PDEIVB, cAMP-specific 3',5'-cyclic Phosphodiesterase 4B, DPDE4, PDE32) |
|
|
Description: This gene is a member of the type IV, cyclic AMP (cAMP)-specific, cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) family. Cyclic nucleotides are important second messengers that regulate and mediate a number of cellular responses to extracellular signals, such as hormones, light, and neurotransmitters. The cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) regulate the cellular concentrations of cyclic nucleotides and thereby play a role in signal transduction. This gene encodes a protein that specifically hydrolyzes cAMP. Altered activity of this protein has been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Peptide ELISA Titer: 1:8000 Western Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml ~85kD band observed in Mouse Brain lysates (calculated MW of 83.3kD according to Human NP_002591.2 and 82.1kD according to Mouse NP_062814.2). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing Human PDE4B a band of approx. 85kD is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
