6-Phosphogluconate is an intermediate in the pentose phosphate pathway and the Entner-Doudororoff pathway. It is formed by 6-phosphogluconolactonase, and acted upon by phosphogluconate dehydrogenase to produce Ribulose 5-phosphate. It may also be acted upon by 6-phosphogluconate dehydratase to produce 2-keto,3-deoxy-6-phosphogluconate. Purity: 95% Determined by enzyme analysis with 6-P-GDH* *6-P-GDH= Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.49.) Sodium: 19.7 ± 2.5% Water: 10% by Karl Fischer Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Solutions are most stable at pH 2-13.
