Stem cell factor (SCF) is a type I transmembrane protein and hematopoietic growth factor which acts in synergy with other growth factors, and signals through the receptor tyrosine kinase c-Kit (CD117). The interaction between SCF and c-Kit regulates developmental and functional processes of hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, myelanocytes and germ cells, and plays an important role in follicular development. Studies have also shown that the interaction between SCF and c-Kit is associated with the progression and invasiveness of some tumors, including melanomas.

The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of the human TF-1 cell line is 10 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1 x10e5 units/mg

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
