SMAD3 (Mothers Against Decapentaplegic Homolog 3, Mothers Against DPP Homolog 3, MAD Homolog 3, Mad3, SMAD Family Member 3, SMAD 3, Smad3, JV15-2, MADH3)
SMAD3 is a 50kD transcriptional modulator activated by TGF-beta and activin type 1 receptor kinase. SMAD3 functions in cell proliferation, differentiation and development. Upon stimulation, SMAD3 oligomerizes with SMAD4 and translocates into the nucleus where it binds to DNA and transcription factors. SMAD3 activity induces differentiation of selected neuronal subtypes at the expense of other subtypes.

Studies have indicated that defects in SMAD3 may be a cause of colorectal cancer.

Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (paraffin), and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 2.5ug/ml
ELISA: 1:25,000-1:100,000
Western Blot: 1:2,000-1:20,000
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
