Technical Data
SOCS3, Induced (Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 3, SOCS-3, Cytokine-inducible SH2 Protein 3, CIS-3, SSI-3, CIS3, SSI3, STAT-induced STAT Inhibitor 3)
Suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS) protein family include eight members in humans: SOCS-1 through SOCS-7 and cytokine-inducible Src-homology 2 (SH2) containing protein (CIS). All members of the family have similar structure: variable length (50-380aa) and aa sequence N-terminal region, SH2 domain in the center, and homologous C-terminal 40aa long sequence that was named SOCS box. Studies have demonstrated that animals lacking normal SOCS function exhibit high cytokine activity that leads to a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and even cancer. SOCS-3 is 225aa long and shares sequence similarity with SOCS- 1. Its expression in many tissues is induced by elevated levels of IL-1, IL-4, IL-6, LIF, GM-CSF, IFNg, GH, EPO, leptin, prolactin, and other cytokines. However, SOCS-3 is found mostly in lungs, spleen, and fat. SOCS-3 targets Janus activated kinases similar to SOCS-1, but with lower affinity and does not block their activity. In addition, SOCS-3 binds phosphorylated tyrosine (Y) residues of various receptors: Y759 of gp130, Y333/338 of GHR, and Y985,1077 of leptin receptor.

Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1:200-1:500
Immunohistochemistry: 1:100-1:200
Immunoprecipitation: 1:50-1:200 extract from 10e7 cells
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
