A general purpose peptone that is used for growth promotion in many media formulations including tryptic soy broth and agar. Appearance: Supplied as a medium tan crystalline powder Amino Nitrogen: 5% Total Nitrogen: 13% pH (2%): 6.8 ± 0.4 Loss on Drying: 5% Residue on Ignition: 12% Growth Supporting Properties: Agar Formulation: Growth Test Broth Formulation: Growth Test Standard Plate Count: 5000CFU/g Molds/Yeasts: 100CFU/g Coliforms: 10CFU/g Salmonella: Negative/25g Note: Soytone has been heated to a minimum of 80°C for a minimum of 1 hour, including a minimum of 5 minutes at a minimum of 105°C. It is dried at a minimum of 140°C.
