Description: SPTAN1/Alpha II-spectrin is one of two polypeptide chains (alpha and beta) that are part of the fodrin tetramer. Fodrin functions to link actin filaments to the plasma membrane and is a major neuronal cytoskeletal protein. Fodrin has been linked to neurogenerative and autoimmune diseases. Alternate names for SPTAN1/Alpha II-spectrin include alpha-fodrin, spectrin alpha chain brain, spectrin non-erythroid alpha chain, fodrin alpha chain, SPTA2, and FLJ44613. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:2000-1:10,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
