Stem Cell Growth Factor alpha and beta are hematopoietic growth factors that exert their activity at early stages of hematopoiesis. The SCGFs are non-glycosylated species-specific cytokines that can support growth of primitive hematopoietic cells, and in combination with EPO or GM-CSF, promote proliferation or erthroid or myeloid progenitors, respectively. Recombinant human SCGFb is a 25kD polypeptide containing 227 amino acid residues.

0.1ng/ug (1EU/ug).

Biological Activity:
Determined by the dose dependant stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells previously grown in media containing GM-CSF. The ED50 for this effect was observed is 7ng/ml.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Add carrier protein and store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
