TRAP 5 (Tartrate-resistant Acid Phosphatase Serum band 5, TRAcP 5, ACP5, PAP, EC
TRAcP genes and proteins are highly conserved phylogenetically. Acid phosphatases catalyze the hydrolysis of monophosphate esters, and “band 5” (TRAcP) is one of the known four different acid phosphatases in humans. The other three include erythrocytic acid phosphatase, lysosomal acid phosphatase and prostatic acid phophatase. TRAcP has an estimated molecular weight of 30-40kD and it is unique in that it is resistant to competitive inhibition by tartrate as compared to the other acid phosphatases.Monoclonal Mouse anti-TRAcP Antibody is an important cell marker in both hematology and bone pathology. Antibody has been an indispensable marker for hairy cell leukemia (HCL) for over two decades. Recent studies demonstrate that specific immunohistochemical reactivity with hairy cells in both cell smears and tissue sections. It stained hairy cells with high sensitivity and specificity, while clearly demonstrating diffuse infiltration. Equally effective in staining hairy cells in both FFPE sections and B-5-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. This antibody is also useful in detecting residual hairy cells in bone marrow biopsies from treated patients. Also stained osteoclasts, activated macrophages, giant cells, Kupffer cells and normal placenta. May also be a useful marker for osteoclasts and activated macrophages, and it may serve as a diagnosticmarker for disorders related to these cells.

Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): Epitope retrieval is required using citrate buffer, pH 6.0. See protocol. Enzyme digestion is not required.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Positive Control:
Hairy Cell Leukemia patient’s spleen, bone marrow or lymph nodes.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
