Recombinant Human Vascular Endothelial Cell Growth Factor (VEGF) is a dimer (composed of two 22kD chains, each chain containing 165 amino acid residues). Produced from recombinant human DNA expressed in baculovirus infected Sf21cells.
Vascular Endothelial Cell Growth Factor (VEGF) is a secreted homodimeric protein secreted by a variety of vascularized tissues. The reported activities of VEGF include stimulation of endothelial cell growth, angiogenesis, and capillary permeability. Human VEGF is a 38.2kD protein consisting of two 165 amino acid polypeptide chains.

Cell Proliferation Assay: VEGF activity was determined as the ability to stimulate proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVE cells) during a ve day growth assay. In the assay described below, this lot at 2ng/ml stimulated cell proliferation 1.4fold over the untreated control. Results may vary depending on the cell line used. VEGF will also stimulate endothelial cells from other species.

Dilution: VEGF is acid stable. Dilute in either 0.1% TFA or 4mM HCl, containing 25ug BSA per ug VEGF to maintain stability. Reducing agents (such as dithiothreitol or 2-mercaptoethanol) inhibit VEGF activity.

Storage and Stability: For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
