OCT1/OTF1 is a protein belonging to the POU domain of transcription factors. OCT1, Octamer binding transcription factor 1, binds to an octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3') and activates the promoters of the genes for some small nuclear RNAs (snRNA) and of genes for immunoglobulins. POU domain proteins contain a bipartite DNA-binding domain, which is divided by a flexible linker that enables them to adopt various monomer configurations on DNA. The versatility of POU protein operation is conferred at the dimerization level. POU dimer from the OCT1 gene formed on the palindromic OCT factor recognition element, or PORE, could recruit the transcriptional coactivator OBF1. This octamer sequence within immunoglobulin promoters are sufficient for lymphoid-specific promoter activity in lymphoid cells. OCT1 regulate the expansion and/or maintenance of mature B cells. In its absence mature B-cell pull is strongly reduced.
Applications
Suitable for use in FLISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: MaxLight™650 conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.

Full length recombinant corresponding to aa1-744 from human POU2F1 (AAH01664) with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26kD.
