CEA is synthesized during development in the fetal gut and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. This monoclonal antibody does not react with nonspecific cross-reacting antigen (NCA) and with human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. It shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues and is suitable for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. CEA is not found in benign glands, stroma, or malignant prostatic cells. Antibody to CEA is useful in detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+). Anti-CEA positivity is seen in adenocarcinomas from the lung, colon, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, gallbadder, urachus, salivary gland, ovary, and endocervix.

Applications
Suitable for use in FLISA, Immunoprecipitation, Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Western Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Frozen & Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 0.5-1ug/ml/30min @ RT Flow Cytometry: 0.5-1ug/10e6 cells Immunofluorescence: 1-2ug/ml Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ug/500ug protein lysate Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive Control
MCF7 or 293T cells. Colon carcinoma
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. APC is light sensitive.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
Immunogen
Human colon carcinoma extract
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2. Labeled with Allophycocyanin (APC).
Purity
Purified by Protein A/G affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human COL-1. This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200kD, identified as different members of CEA family.
