Rabbit Anti-TGF alpha (EGF-like TGF)
Transforming growth factor alpha (TGF-alpha) is upregulated in some human cancers. It is produced in macrophages, brain cells, and keratinocytes, and induces epithelial development. It is closely related to EGF, and can also bind to the EGF receptor with similar effects. TGFalpha stimulates neural cell proliferation in the adult injured brain. TGFalpha was cited in the 2001 NIH Stem Cell report to the U.S. Congress as promising evidence for the ability of adult stem cells to restore function in neurodegenerative disorders.
Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa73-89, CHSGYVGARCEHADLLA at the C-terminus of human TGF alpha, different from the related mouse and rat sequences by one amino acid. Species sequence homology: hamster

Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, 5% BSA, 0.05% thimerosal, 0.05% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 200ul sterile ddH2O.

Specificity
Recognizes human TGF alpha. No crossreactivity with other proteins.
