Mouse Anti-CD171 (NCAM-L1, CAML1, HSAS1, Hyd, L1 Cell Adhesion Molecule, L1-NCAM, MASA, MIC5, NCAM-L1, Nerve-growth factor-inducible large external glycoprotein, Neural cell adhesion molecule L1, NILE, S10, SPG1) (HRP)
(NCAM-L1, CAML1, HSAS1, Hyd, L1 Cell Adhesion Molecule, L1-NCAM, MASA, MIC5, NCAM-L1, Nerve-growth factor-inducible large external glycoprotein, Neural cell adhesion molecule L1, NILE, S10, SPG1)

Recognizes a cell surface protein of 220-240kD, identified as L1 cell adhesion molecule. The L1CAM gene, which is located in Xq28, is involved in three distinct conditions: 1) HSAS (hydrocephalus-stenosis of the aqueduct of Sylvius); 2) MASA (mental retardation, aphasia, shuffling gait, and adducted thumbs); and 3) SPG1 (spastic paraplegia). The L1, neural cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) also plays an important role in axon growth, fasciculation, and neural migration as well as in mediating neuronal differentiation. Expression of L1 protein is restricted to tissues arising from neuroectoderm. This MAb is useful in the identification of primitive neuroectodermal tumors. It binds to tumors of neuroectodermal and glial origin e.g. neuroblastoma and Schwannomas. It does not bind to pediatric or adult brain.

Applications:  Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive Control
Neuroblastomas or Schwannomas
Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
Immunogen
Homogenous suspension of 16 week human fetal brain. |Cellular Localization: Cell surface
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 10mM PBS. No preservative added. BSA-Free. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
Purity
Purified by Protein A/G affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human CD171 (NCAM-L1). Useful in the identification of primative neuroectodermal tumors. Does not bind to pediatric or adult brains.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
