Proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase MER, also called MERTK is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MERTK gene. This gene is a member of the MER/AXL/TYRO3 receptor kinase family and encodes a transmembrane protein with two fibronectin type-III domains, two Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains, and one tyrosine kinase domain. This gene is mapped to 2q13. MERTK signaling plays a role in various processes such as macrophage clearance of apoptotic cells, platelet aggregation, cytoskeleton reorganization and engulfment. This gene is also very important in inhibition of Toll-like receptors(TLRs)-mediated innate immune response by activating STAT1, which selectively induces production of suppressors of cytokine signaling SOCS1 and SOCS3.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa132-148, KDGKELLGAHHAITQFY, from human MERTK at N-terminus, different from the related mouse and rat sequences by 1aa.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, 5% BSA, 0.05% thimerosal, 0.05% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 200ul sterile dH2O.
