Cardiac ATP sensitive potassium channel, Cardiac inward rectifier, CIR, G protein activated inward rectifier potassium channel 4, G protein-activated inward rectifier potassium channel 4, GIRK 4, GIRK-4, GIRK4, Heart KATP channel, Inward rectifier K(+) channel Kir3.4, Inward rectifier K+ channel KIR3.4, Inward rectifier potassium channel KIR3.4, inwardly rectifying subfamily J member 5, IRK-4, IRK5_HUMAN, KATP 1, KATP-1, KATP1, KCNJ 5, Kcnj5, KIR 3.4, KIR3.4, LQT13, Potassium channel, Potassium channel inwardly rectifying subfamily J member 5, Potassium inwardly rectifying channel J5, Potassium inwardly rectifying channel subfamily J member 5, potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily J member 5

This potassium channel is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Can be blocked by external barium.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry and ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunofluorescence (IF-IC): 1:100-1:500 ELISA (peptide): 1:20,000-1:40,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to human KIR3.4. Species sequence homology: porcine (100%), bovine (100%), equine (100%), sheep (100%), rabbit (100%), canine (100%), chicken (89%)
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes endogenous levels of total human KIR3.4.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
