Rabbit Anti-RGR
RGR; RPE-retinal G protein-coupled receptor

RGR (retinal G protein coupled receptor) encodes a putative retinal G-protein coupled receptor. RGR is a member of the opsin subfamily of the 7 transmembrane, G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Like other opsins which bind retinaldehyde, it contains a conserved lysine residue in the seventh transmembrane domain. The protein acts as a photoisomerase to catalyze the conversion of all-trans-retinal to 11-cis-retinal. The reverse isomerization occurs with rhodopsin in retinal photoreceptor cells. The protein is exclusively expressed in tissue adjacent to retinal photoreceptor cells, the retinal pigment epithelium and Mueller cells. RGR may be associated with autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (arRP and adRP, respectively). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:100-1:300 Immunofluorescence: 1:200-1:1000 ELISA: 1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa140-220 of human RGR.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.5% BSA, 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes endogenous levels of human RGR.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
