Rabbit Anti-ABP (VABP, Vesicle APC-Binding Protein, KCHIP1)

KChIP1 is an integral member of the Kv channel interacting proteins (KChIP) family, which are components of native A-type Kv channel complexes and are likely to play a major role as modulators of somatodendritic excitability. Kv4 potassium channels regulate action potentials in neurons and cardiac myocytes. Co-expression of KChIP with pore-forming Kv4 alpha subunits causes changes in the gating and amplitude of Kv4 currents. KChIP1 interacts differently with Kv4.1 and Kv4.2 currents and thus increases the functional diversity of K(+) channels. Like other members of the family, KChIP1 have four EF-hand-like domains and bind calcium ions. Report suggests the existence of two splice variants of the protein, KChIP1a and KChIP1b with differential modulatory activity on Kv4 kinectis. Human KChIP1 gene is located at chromosome 5q35.1.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
ELISA: 1:300,000 Western Blot: 1:4,000, detected the 27kD ABP in mouse brain extract. Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol, ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide (QTKQRRPSKDK) corresponding to aa12-22 of mouse Kchip1 (KLH).
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4. Reconstitute with 100ul of sterile ddH2O.
Purity
Purified by Protein G affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes mouse cytosolic K+ channel-interacting protein1, 27kD.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
