Rabbit Anti-Aurora B (STK12, Serine Threonine Kinase 12, Aurora Kinase B, AIK2, AIM1, AurB, IPL1, ARK2, Aurora Related Kinase 2)
Human aurora A (aurora related kinase-1 (ARK-1), Aik1, STK15, BTAK, aurora2), and human aurora B (aurora related kinase-2 (ARK-2), Aik2, STK12, aurora1) are centrosome-associated serine/threonine kinases that regulate centrosome separation, bipolar spindle assembly, and chromosome segregation during mitosis.1, 2 Aurora B has unique genetic loci relative to Aurora A suggesting that these two kinases, with oncogenic potential, have different roles in cell cycle progression.1, 3 Aurora B exists in a complex with survivin and inner centromere protein (INCENP) in mitosis, and its kinase activity is stimulated by survivin binding and cell cycle-dependent phosphorylation.4 Phosphorylation of INCENP by aurora B stimulates aurora B kinase activity .5
Applications
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Immunofluorescence: 1-3ug/m Western Blotting: 1-3ug/ml Immunoprecipitation: 7ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide derived from the N-terminal region of the human Aurora B protein.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.09% sodium azide.
Purity
Epitope-affinity purified from rabbit antiserum.
Specificity
Reacts with the human Aurora B. On Western blots, it identifies the target band at ~39kD. A band of unknown origin is also observed at ~ 75kD. Reactivity has been confirmed with human HeLa cervical carcinoma cell lysates.
