Rabbit Anti-Bacillus cereus/Bacillus subtilis, Spores (HRP)

Bacillus cereus is an endemic, soil-dwelling, Gram-positive, rod-shaped, beta hemolytic bacterium. Some strains are harmful to humans and cause foodborne illness, while other strains can be beneficial as probiotics for animals. B. cereus bacteria are facultative anaerobes, and like other members of the genus Bacillus can produce protective endospores. Bacillus subtilis, known as the hay bacillus or grass bacillus, is a Gram-positive, catalase-positive bacterium commonly found in soil. A member of the genus Bacillus, B. subtilis is rod-shaped, and has the ability to form a tough, protective endospore, allowing the organism to tolerate extreme environmental conditions. Unlike several other well-known species, B. subtilis has historically been classified as an obligate aerobe, though recent research has demonstrated that this is not strictly correct.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry and ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Immunocytochemistry: 1:20-1:200 ELISA: 1:200-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Purified spores of B. cereus (ATCC #11778) + B. subtilis (ATCC #9372)
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 10mg/ml BSA, 0.002% thimerasol. Labeled with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP).
Purity
Purified IgG fraction to a purity of >95%.
Specificity
Recognizes Bacillus cereus/Bacillus subtilis spores. Antiserum is unabsorbed and is expected to crossreact with various Bacillus species.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
